AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) is the secret behind the superior sound of the CLP-156’s 8 voices. Digital recordings of the actual instruments, including a stereo-sampled piano voice, give incredibly lifelike, dynamic instrument voices.

The AE (Action Effect) keyboard is modeled on the same principles as an acoustic piano’s, to give the firm yet crisp response pianists demand.

Built-in digital reverb allows you to add the ambience to everything you play. Select from Room, Hall 1, Hall 2 or Cosmic to match your music. A 3-position Brilliance function to let you select from bright, normal or mellow equalization.

Think of the Recorder as a built-in tape deck, allowing you to keep a record of your performance at the touch of a button. You can record 2 tracks separately, playing the chords into one track, and then a melody into the other track, for play-back together.

You can enjoy Yamaha’s Piano Software-recordings of top-flight musicians on floppy disk. Or you can use the disk drive to save performances you recorded with the Recorder.

You stack up any two voices on top of each other, and play them together.

You can tune every key on the keyboard individually, to create “tuned” keyboards that match your taste or a specific instrument voice such as the Harpsichord.
